How to Use 2Apply for Your NSW Rental Application

2Apply is one of the most widely used rental application portals in NSW. Here's a step-by-step guide to completing your profile, attaching documents, and submitting a strong application.

What Is 2Apply?

2Apply is a digital rental application platform used by many real estate agencies across NSW and other Australian states. It allows renters to create a reusable profile that can be submitted to multiple properties without re-entering the same information each time.

If you are applying for rentals in Sydney, there is a good chance you will encounter 2Apply. Understanding how it works — and how to use it effectively — can save you time and improve your chances of approval.

Setting Up Your 2Apply Profile

Your 2Apply profile is the foundation of every application you submit through the platform. Invest time in setting it up properly, because a complete, well-presented profile makes a strong first impression.

Step 1: Create an account

Go to 2apply.com.au and create an account using your email address. You will be prompted to enter your personal details, including your name, date of birth, and contact information.

Step 2: Complete your rental history

Enter your previous rental addresses, including the property manager's name and contact details for each. If you are a first-time renter, select the appropriate option and provide an explanation in the additional notes field.

Step 3: Add your employment details

Enter your current employer, job title, employment type, and income. If you are self-employed, select "Self-employed" and be prepared to upload supporting documents.

Step 4: Upload your documents

2Apply allows you to upload supporting documents directly to your profile. At a minimum, upload:

  • Photo ID (passport or driver's licence)
  • Payslips (last 3 months)
  • Bank statements (last 3 months)
  • Employment letter (if available)

Upload documents as clear, legible PDFs. Blurry or incomplete documents are a common reason for applications being set aside.

Step 5: Add your references

Enter the contact details for your references. 2Apply will send them an automated request for a reference, so make sure they are expecting it and are prepared to respond promptly.

Submitting an Application

Once your profile is complete, you can submit it to a property by entering the property's listing ID or by clicking the "Apply" button on the listing page.

Before submitting, review your profile one final time to ensure all information is current and accurate. Check that all documents are attached and that your references are up to date.

Tips for a Strong 2Apply Submission

Complete every field. Incomplete applications are filtered out early. If a field does not apply to you, write "N/A" rather than leaving it blank.

Attach a cover letter. 2Apply has an additional comments or cover letter field. Use it. A brief, professional cover letter sets you apart from applicants who leave it blank.

Submit quickly. In Sydney's rental market, applications submitted within hours of the inspection are taken more seriously than those submitted days later.

Keep your profile updated. If your income, employment, or contact details change, update your profile immediately. Outdated information can raise questions about your reliability.

2Apply vs. Ignite (1Form)

The other major rental application platform in NSW is Ignite, formerly known as 1Form. The two platforms work similarly, but some agencies use one exclusively. It is worth having profiles on both platforms ready to go before you start your property search.
